The Ford F-150 is one of the most iconic American work trucks, and it’s not hard to see why! For decades, the flagship of the Ford line has brought powerhouse performance and rugged capability to the streets of New Castle and beyond. Now, Ford is taking things to new heights with their first-ever electric pickup truck, the Ford F-150 Lightning. EVs are more popular than ever these days, even in the pickup truck market, but Ford is seeking to change the game even further. With two robust battery options, an impressive electric range, and a towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds, the F-150 Lightning may just be your perfect next ride! The team at Greg Hubler Ford has all the details on the Ford F-150 Lightning battery options, range, performance specs, and more in the guide below.

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Battery Options & Performance

When it comes to your Ford F-150 Lightning battery options, you can pick between two available choices: the standard or extended range battery. Your choice of battery will reflect the output and range of your truck, so we’ve outlined all the relevant information below. No matter what, you’ll be getting power and performance that meets—or exceeds—just about every gasoline-powered truck on the market! Check out the details:

  • Standard Range Power Output: 426 hp
  • Extended Range Power Output: 563 hp
  • Torque Output (Both Models): 775 lb-ft of torque
  • Range with Standard Battery: 230 miles
  • Range with Extended Range Battery: 320 miles
  • Charging Time: Around 30 miles per charging hour, or 15% to 100% in eight hours*

2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Features & Technology

Electric vehicles are famed for their sophisticated technological features and impressive capabilities, and the Ford F-150 Lightning is no different! Here’s a selection of what we love about this new electric truck:

  • Max. Towing Capacity: 10,000 lbs
  • Max. Payload Capacity: 2,000 lbs
  • Independent Rear Suspension: The F-150 Lightning is the first F-150 to get an independent rear suspension
  • A front trunk–the largest available on an electric pickup truck–includes plenty of power outlets for charging portable devices
  • A first-ever 15.5” infotainment touchscreen is standard inside the F-150 Lightning cabin

The Ford F-150 Lightning also comes with an innovative feature called Ford Intelligent Backup Power. In short, if the power goes out in your Indianapolis house for any reason, and your Ford F-150 Lightning is fully charged, it can actually return power to the power grid and light up your home for up to three days! That number is based on 30kWh of use per day with the extended range battery, but it could be extended to as many as 10 days if you ration power.
